Another In-State Showdown: Samford Will Play at Alabama

We finally have a bit of news regarding the upcoming Samford basketball non-conference schedule. Samford will play at Alabama this 2026-2027 season per Rocco Miller of The Field of 68. The official date and time are to be determined.

This will be the 10th meeting all-time between the two schools. The last came in 2019 when Alabama defeated Samford 105-87 at Legacy Arena in downtown Birmingham. Samford guard Josh Sharkey had 18 points along with 15 assists. Brandon Austin led Samford in scoring with 18 points.

2019 was the first season for Nate Oats in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama is entering their eighth season under Nate Oats. The Crimson Tide finished last season at 25-10 and 13-5 in SEC play. Their season ended in the Sweet 16 of the 2026 NCAA Tournament losing to eventual national champion Michigan.

Samford is heading into their second season under Lennie Acuff finishing last season with an 18-14 overall record and 11-7 in Southern Conference play. Samford just has one other reported game on their non-conference slate this upcoming season. The Bulldogs will play at in-state foe UAB on December 2nd.
