Former Belmont and Vestavia Hills G Win Miller Commits to Samford

Samford’s last two additions out of the transfer portal have something in common, they are both coming back home. Just five days after former Creighton guard Ty Davis commits to Samford, former Belmont guard Win Miller announced his commitment to Samford.

Miller hails from Vestavia Hills, Alabama where he left Vestavia Hills High School as the school record holder in points with almost 2,000 career points. The former Alabama Mr. Basketball finalist is returning home after three years in Nashville.

The six-foot, three-inch guard spent his first three seasons at Belmont under now Kansas State head coach Casey Alexander. In those three seasons at Belmont, Miller averaged a combined 1.9 PPG along with 0.6 RPG and 0.6 APG. He averaged a combined 7.1 minutes per game. He scored a season-high 12 points against Fisk and played a season-high 19 minutes at Oral Roberts.

He shot just over 39% from three point range on 38 attempts and made 16 of 18 free throws.

Miller is not just coming back home to Alabama but he joins a long line of Millers who played collegiately at Samford. Miller’s father, Bud, played baseball at Samford. His father, Mary, played volleyball at Samford. Even Miller’s great-grandfather, Carl E Miller Jr., and grandfather, Eddie Miller, played baseball at Samford.

The Samford baseball press box over at Joe Lee Griffin Field is named after Carl E Miller Jr..

Samford added the final piece to their backcourt with the addition of Win Miller. He joins other transfers, the aforementioned Ty Davis, and former Montevallo guard Brandon Fussell.

Lennie Acuff now has one more roster spot to fill and that will need to fill the void left by the transfer of Dylan Faulkner.
