Former Creighton and Mountain Brook HS G Ty Davis Commits to Samford
Ty Davis is coming home. The former Creighton and Mountain Brook High School guard Ty Davis has committed to Samford per his social media. Davis comes to Samford with two years of eligibility remaining.
Both of Ty Davis’s parents, Tyler and Ashley played college basketball at Samford.
Davis started 12 games for Creighton this past season averaging 1.2 PPG along with 1.6 RPG and 1.2 APG per game. He played a season-high 30 minutes against Kansas State while averaging 11.3 minutes per game.
During his freshmen season, Davis appeared in 28 games making one start.
He was a four-star recruit rated by Rivals and the number one rated recruit in the state of Alabama in 2024. Davis chose Creighton over Oregon, Northwestern, and Ole Miss among others. He scored over 1,500 career points for Mountain Brook High School leading the Spartans to three state championships winning one in his freshmen season.
In his senior season at Mountain Brook, Davis averaged 17.6 points per game with 5.2 assists per game.
As a freshman at Creighton, Davis stepped up for the Blue Jays in the quarterfinal round of the Big East Tournament scoring seven points in double overtime making five out of six free throws to help Creighton get the win over DePaul.
Tyler Davis is Samford’s second addition out of the transfer portal after adding Montevallo guard Brandon Fussell. At 6-foot, four-inches, Davis adds some size to the Samford backcourt as they look to replace Keaton Norris and SoCon Player of the Year, Jadin Booth.
